  • What is the “National Health Insurance”? “National Health Insurance” is health insurance and a type of social insurance to reduce the burden of medical expenses according to 「the National Health Insurance Act」. The National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) pays most of the medical expenses when the insurance premium-paying subscribers use hospitals and covered medical services.   • Calculation and payment of the health insurance premium Insurance premiums for foreign students are calculated according to the same criteria as Korean regional subscribers by considering each individual as a single household. If the status of sojourn of the student is Studying abroad (D-2) or General training (D-4), a certain percentage of the insurance premium may be reduced.
