"Import/export quarantine” refers to inspections, etc. conducted at airports, ports, or designated place of quarantine and inspection locations to prevent the introduction of infectious diseases or pests from abroad.
A quarantine application must be submitted to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency when importing/exporting animals and plants subject to import/export quarantine, and to the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service in the case of aquatic organisms; animal and plant quarantine officers and fishery product quarantine officers will then carry out the necessary inspections, respectively.
To import livestock products for sale or business purpose, the importer must report to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. For importing food products, they must report to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and undergo inspections.
Foreigners wishing to enter the Republic of Korea must, in principle, obtain an appropriate visa based on their intended purpose of stay. However, there are cases where entry without a visa is possible according to international agreements. A passport is an identification document that indicates the holder’s nationality and other personal details and is essential for international travel. This content provides legal information on visas required by foreigners intending to enter the Republic of Korea, ranging from the visa issuance to its extension, change, and loss, and on passports required by Korean citizens planning to travel abroad.
Methods for a foreigner to acquire nationality of the Republic of Korea include general naturalization, simplified naturalization, and special naturalization. People who once held nationality of the Republic of Korea but now only hold foreign nationality can reacquire such through restoration of the nationality of the Republic of Korea. Individuals with multiple nationalities must select one within a certain period, but they may also pledge not to exercise their foreign nationality and maintain their multiple nationality. In addition, people from North Korea or Sakhalin whose nationality status in the Republic of Korea is unclear can apply for a nationality determination.
