My foreign friend wants to stay in Korea for a long time. I heard that foreigners have to get a visa to enter Korea. What is the process for visa issuance?


 


A foreigner who wants to get a visa must apply for visa issuance at the relevant foreign mission of the Republic of Korea. ※ What are foreign missions? These collectively refer to the Korean embassies, legations, main offices, consulates-general, and consulates in other countries.


 


 


1. Submission of Documents A foreigner who wants to get a Korean visa must submit the following x-documents. Passport Visa application Other x-documents required for each type of visa


 


 


2. Visa Issuance Review Whether the foreign applicant meets the following requirements shall be reviewed and confirmed. Whether the applicant possesses an effective passportWhether the applicant is subject to prohibition or denial of entry Whether the applicant is subject to the visa status stipulated in the relevant law Whether the applicant explains the entry purpose in line with the visa status Whether the applicant is acknowledged to return to his/her country within the period of stay permitted for the relevant visa status Whether the applicant meets any other requirements for the relevant visa status


 


 


3. Visa Issuance A visa stating the visa status, period of stay, etc., shall be attached to the passport and issued to the applicant.
